The 25th anniversary of one of the most prestigious awards programs in existence will honor the past, celebrate the present, and inspire the future. SALTO FOUNDATION is proud to support 2025 Laureus nominee Catherine Debrunner on her journey and continued success in para-athletics. 

Salto proudly celebrates the nomination of Swiss para-athlete Catherine Debrunner for the 2025 Laureus World Sportsperson of the Year with a Disability award. Catherine is a remarkable wheelchair racer known for her outstanding achievements in Para athletics. Salto has supported Catherine for many years and has excitedly watched as her exceptional talent and dedication have earned her many awards including this well-deserved nomination in this prestigious category. 

At just 29 years old, Catherine has had a remarkable career filled with triumphs. In the recent Paris Paralympics, she showcased her skills by clinching gold medals in five events: the 400m T53, 800m T53, 1,500m T54, 5,000m T54, and marathon T54. She also secured a silver medal in the 100m T53 category, highlighting her versatility and prowess in wheelchair racing. 

Catherine has overcome numerous challenges to become a dominant force in Para athletics. Her success extends beyond the track, with victories for two consecutive years in World Marathon Majors such as the New York, Berlin, and London. Holding multiple world records and five-time world champion titles, Catherine was previously honored as the Laureus World Sportsperson of the Year with a Disability in 2023

The nomination for the 2025 Laureus World Sportsperson of the Year with a Disability award is a testament to her unparalleled determination to break down barriers and not accept limits. 

The winners of the 2025 Laureus World Sports Awards are scheduled to be announced in Madrid on April 21, 2025.
