Business Case Intro Text

Das Schlafwerk is a brand of DQuadrat Living GmbH. The parent company has been planning, building, and operating student flats, hotels, and boarding houses in the business and budget segments since 2015. Their most well-known developments include BE:AT student homes and the HARBR hotel and boarding house.

Guest comfort is at the heart of everything Das Schlafwerk does. From the design of their rooms right down to their motto – ‘Simply sleep well’ – the hotel chain is laser-focused on providing guests with everything they need to have an excellent stay.

Whether guests check in for just one night or for several weeks at once, it is important that they feel comfortable. Accommodations range from single and double rooms to apartments that can hold up to six people. The properties also feature common rooms for relaxing and socialising. Kitchen and barbeque facilities are provided for guests who prefer to cook their own food rather than order in.

The challenge
Text

Das Schlafwerk is DQuadrat Living’s breakout brand for the budget long-stay sector. In order to offer consistently low prices, guarantee 24-hour availability, and reduce physical contact, the parent company chose to digitalise Das Schlafwerk’s guest journey.

The hotel needed an access control solution that would ensure that each step of the guest journey was completely frictionless – from reservation to departure. More importantly, Das Shclafwerk wanted an access control system that operated without guests needing to download an app or enter a pin code to open doors at the property.

Das Schlafwerk chose Apaleo’s hotel property management system (PMS,) as well as CODE2ORDER's digital hotel services, to manage front-of-house functions. Due to its ability to seamlessly integrate with these platforms, SALTO’S electronic hotel locking system was the natural hardware choice for the property’s access points.

SALTO's electronic hotel locking system is used throughout the building. The wireless infrastructure is supported by a variety of gateways, nodes, and repeaters. The 97 rooms and apartments, as well as four doors to common areas, are equipped with XS4 One Wireless BLUEnet escutcheons. Virtually networked XS4 One escutcheons are installed on a further 12 doors that are only accessible to staff. A wired online wall reader is installed at the main entrance.

CODE2ORDER’s Progressive Web App (PWA) is used to manage digital check-ins, registrations, guest folders, and check-out. It also sends automated email updates to guests as they move through a predefined journey. The PWA allows guests to access Das Schlafwerk’s digital hotel services via a link sent by email or directly through the hotel’s website – all without the need to download an app.

By seamlessly integrating with and pulling data from Apaleo’s PMS and CODE2ORDER’s PWA, SALTO’s access management software automatically assigns access rights to guests. Integrating the three systems ensures the automatic transfer of booking data, the provision of digital keys to guests, and the general exchange of data without any action from Das Schlafwerk employees; it is all embedded in the automated processes.
