Salto celebrates World Environment Day by cleaning over 225 kg of waste!

The recent 51st edition of World Environment Day marked a record-breaking success, with an unprecedented 3,854 official events and millions of online engagements highlighting humanity's role in addressing the often-overlooked challenges of land degradation, desertification, and drought.

Salto team enthusiastically observed World Environment Day by working together to restore the ecosystem surrounding the Salto factory in northern Spain. Through our collective efforts, we successfully recovered over 225 kg of waste from the mountains and green spaces near our Salto workplace.

  • Waste: 165 kg
  • Plastic packaging: 25 kg
  • Metal: 16 kg
  • Paper: 3,12 kg
  • Glass: 15,81 kg

According to the United Nations, up to 40% of the planet's land is degraded, emphasizing the critical need for ecosystem restoration. The global community continues to make strides in the conservation and restoration of our natural surroundings. Every individual contribution adds to the collective impact towards a sustainable future, and we are proud to be a part of it!

Support Sustainable Development and Climate Action

The UN launched its sustainable development agenda in 2015, reflecting the growing understanding by Member States that a development model that is sustainable for this and future generations offers the best path forward for reducing poverty and improving the lives of people everywhere. At the same time, climate change began making a profound impact on the consciousness of humanity. With the polar ice caps melting, global sea levels rising, and cataclysmic weather events increasing in ferocity, no country in the world is safe from the effects of climate change.

Guided by social responsibility and governed by ethical and legal requirements, we remain conscious at Salto that we are just one part of a much broader framework. This is why Salto has established sustainability guidelines and principles for our projects and operations that reinforce our commitment to the value that life matters most. In fact, Salto commits to be 100 per cent carbon neutral for its supply chain and products by 2040. We’ve already achieved carbon neutrality today for our corporate emissions worldwide. And we aren’t done by any means. We plan to bring our entire carbon footprint to net zero by 2040 with our Climate Change Policy 2023-2030

As part of these efforts, our SALTO WECOSYSTEM climate change policies and roadmap will lower emissions with a series of innovative actions, including:

  • Governance for carbon neutrality
  • Promote low-carbon energy consumption
  • Establish sustainable mobility and logistics
  • Sustainable purchases
  • Base the business on the circular economy
