Following four years of construction, the modern Aldapeta Maria Ikastetxea school building opened in 2020. The centre, originally founded in 1889, is located on the Aldapeta slope in San Sebastián and has more than 2000 students.
The renovated building, designed by architects Antonio Lorén and Olatz Maestre of IDOM, stands out for its spaciousness. It consists of eight floors, large interior hallways, 62 classrooms, an indoor sports centre, outdoor sports courts, workshops, laboratories, a greenhouse, a cookery classroom, music rooms, two libraries, a church, and two oratories.

One of Aldapeta Maria Ikastetxea's priorities when carrying out the project was to improve the safety of the facilities and protect students. This is why they opted to use SALTO technology and products, which guarantee safe access and protection across the school site.
José Eizmendi, the architect and teacher who was responsible for the construction project, describes its different stages:
“In the first phase of construction, which was a complex process, we installed an access control system which was ill-suited to our needs. With the help of SALTO’s partner i-SAI, we tested all the possibilities of SALTO’s system and found that it was exactly what we needed. So, we commissioned SALTO to carry out the second phase of access control.
We were so pleased with the results that we also asked i-SAI to review the entire first phase and replace the access control set-up to unify everything in a single control system.”

- Integration of the smart key as a security device for controlling access to the site.
