It was vital to secure the building carefully, both inside and out, with access controlled by rooms and specific zones. The solution also had to provide integrations with booking, energy, and building management systems for optimal efficiency and control. On a guest level, the experience would have to be completely seamless throughout the hotel.
Aesthetics and holistic design were essential, too. Riviera wanted a solution that could blend visually and functionally into the architecture and interior design without compromising usability. The project also set high standards for flexibility, hygiene solutions, and future scalability.

Now, the hospitality smart access platform, Salto Space, has been fully integrated with the hotel’s booking and property operations. Similarly, all internal doors, external entrances, and the parking garage are secured either through the cloud or via SVN technology, extending smart access solutions beyond guest rooms across the entire property. These solutions have helped provide a consistently smooth and secure access experience to everything from perimeter entries to parking lots and elevators, from conference rooms to the gym and spa.
Incorporating one of the most advanced security and access management system in the business has allowed Riviera to modernise hotel operations while delivering best-in-class experiences for both guests and staff. Every door, including external entrances and garage access, now features the Ælement Fusion smart locking solution. Back-office doors are secured with XS4 Original and XS4 One locks fortified with BioCote antimicrobial coating to ensure the highest hygiene standards.
The feature glass door to the bar is secured with a sleek, modern Neoxx padlock, and wine cabinets in the restaurant are fitted with a Design XS wall reader. Both are integrated into the Salto Space platform, allowing authorised staff to use the same access credentials throughout the hotel while providing robust security in areas at risk of loss or theft.
Most employees use contactless smart wristbands with pre-defined access rights – a practical and efficient solution for quick access and enhanced security. Meanwhile, during check-in, guests receive an exclusive, square smart, eco-friendly wooden key card, custom-made for the hotel. The card provides access to rooms, designated areas, and spa lockers, and can be updated or revoked in real time without physical contact. Its unique size is possible as it doesn’t function as a power card; instead, the Smart ESD system automatically turns electricity on or off by detecting movement, reducing energy use whenever the room is unoccupied.
Rethinking secure in-room storage, Hotel Riviera swapped the traditional safe for a Salto XS4 Locker Lock. This was aesthetically incorporated straight onto the wardrobes, boosting security while offering space for larger items like suitcases. Guests simply use credentials similar to those for their room door – a convenient, elegant touch that has earned enthusiastic praise.
