The Real Sociedad de Fútbol S.A.D., also known as the Real Sociedad or the Real, is a football club from Gipuzkoa founded on September 7, 1909, in San Sebastián.
In 1993, their current football stadium, Estadio Municipal de Anoeta, was inaugurated, officially named Reale Arena for sponsorship reasons. A sports venue located in San Sebastián, in the neighborhood of Amara, it has recently been remodeled, with a capacity of 40,000 spectators. It serves as the main venue for the principal team’s football matches and, occasionally, for Sanse (the “B” team) and the women’s team. Anoeta, in addition to the club’s offices, also hosts one of its two stores and the headquarters of Guipuzcoan sports federations.
In addition to the remodeling of Anoeta, the Real Sociedad club has renovated its facilities in Zubieta, to provide its elite footballers with the necessary conditions to develop their profession using an integrated approach.
Both for Anoeta as well as Zubieta, the Real Sociedad club has selected Salto Systems’ access control solution to protect all of their sports facilities. In total, over 1,000 access points and more than 300 lockers from Salto Systems have been installed under a single management platform: Salto Space.

Both Anoeta and Zubieta needed a renovation and modernization according to sports regulations, our current times, and the new needs of the sport. To this end, we decided on SALTO Systems and their access control solution. We now rely on a fully secure system to protect all of the facilities, offering a unique experience both to fans in Anoeta and athletes in Zubieta.
An innovative technological process has been developed that enables smart access control, giving way to a stadium and high-performance center remotely connected through electronic locks, without the need for keys. This has led to improved user experience, increased security and more efficient management. In addition, being a wireless system, it makes installation easier and has the ability to integrate with any type of ecosystem and building.
The Anoeta project is based on a complete renovation and equipment upgrade, using state-of-the-art materials and technology. For this reason, a new Salto access control system has been installed, aiming to achieve maximum security throughout the stadium and in the Zubieta sports facilities.
For those in charge, it has been crucial to install a solution suitable for all personnel: players and technical staff, office employees, store, cleaning, maintenance, security personnel, etc. Additionally, the system should be adaptable at any time based on uses and zones, days of the week, and specific schedules.
An access solution which is not only safe and future-proof, but also modern, comfortable and easy to use.
After Anoeta’s successful result, those in charge of the project have reinforced Zubieta’s security with Salto, offering a unique experience to all elite athletes, technical staff, employees…
With these major projects, the Real Sociedad club has taken strides in modernizing its facilities.
The Real Sociedad de Fútbol club uses SVN access control, with which it provides an independent, networked solution for over 1,000 access points spanning all of the facilities at Anoeta and Zubieta. For its installation, the great work of I-SAI, a SALTO partner, was instrumental. The efficiency, service, and professionalism of their staff throughout the project were decisive.
The SALTO Virtual Network (SVN) allows independent locks to read, receive and write information through SALTO’s data card technology. With this, access information related to members and staff is stored within the smart card in an encrypted format that wall readers can update at any moment, from any location within the premises. These readers also receive information from the card keys. The SALTO Wireless Network includes all of the functions of the SVN but also gives users real-time access control. All the locks communicate in real time with a central server through gateways to provide the highest level of security and control. With no need for wiring or connecting the locks to the power supply, the solution can be easily adapted and is cost-effective.
The Real Sociedad club uses additional Salto SVN-Flex functionalities, allowing electronic locks to read and update the card key’s access information. This expands the number of update points, increasing effectiveness and comfort for users and administrators. In total, the Real Sociedad club has 500 BLUEnet Wireless access points.
State-of-the-art design and spaces with premium amenities were also important project requirements, therefore, the Ælement Fusion lock was selected for the most exclusive areas in the stadium.

The integration has been smooth, thanks to the structure’s great adaptability to wireless technology on one hand, and the club’s willingness to incorporate this system on the other. We all want the Reale Arena to be more than just a football stadium, and to that end, we have equipped it with cutting-edge technology. The same goes for Zubieta, which is now a state-of-the-art center focused on elite athletes”.
Currently, club employees, players and technical staff alike, have a mobile key to access the premises, and entrance to the parking lot at Anoeta is equipped with long distance readers, for quick, secure and simple access for the entire staff.
With regards to Zubieta, XS4 One electronic locks have been installed, which are designed to integrate with all kinds of doors and access points—an elegant, technologically advanced solution.
Two Neo electronic cylinders have also been installed, providing an easy-to-use electronic locking platform; two Salto wall readers, equipping Zubieta with a comprehensive solution; and a CU42E0 control unit that offers the ability to configure and manage multiple access points.
