Salto’s participation in the corporate triathlon and wheelchair basketball event underscores the company’s core values of teamwork, accessibility, and social impact.
Salto once again demonstrated its commitment to social inclusion through sport, empowerment, and community engagement by not only sponsoring but actively competing in the Melbourne Teams Corporate Triathlon. This initiative was dedicated to raising funds for the Kevin Coombs Cup Victorian Wheelchair Basketball Team, supporting junior para-athletes in their journey to compete at the national level.
Held on Sunday, 23 February 2025, at Elwood Head Street Reserve, the event saw “Squad Salto" - a dedicated team of 17 employees from across Australia and New Zealand - take on the challenge of a 300m swim, a 10km cycle, and a 4km run. Participants had the option to compete in the Full Relay, completing all three disciplines, or the Fun Relay, allowing teammates to split the race segments.
A Collective Effort for a Great Cause
With generous contributions from key sponsors, including LSC (Gold Sponsor) and SecureTel (Silver Sponsor), along with an incredible show of support from corporate teams and individual donors, the Salto team exceeded its original fundraising goal. In total, $37,926 was raised - surpassing the initial target of $35,000.
General Manager of Salto Oceania, Caine Hillier, expressed immense pride in the team's efforts: “The SALTO FOUNDATION is dedicated to breaking barriers and creating opportunities for adaptive sports athletes. Through initiatives like this, we’re helping young para-athletes gain the resources, recognition, and competitive opportunities they need to thrive. It’s an honour to be part of such an impactful cause.”

An Eye-Opening Experience: Wheelchair Basketball Match
To further immerse employees in the world of para-sports, Salto took part in a friendly wheelchair basketball match at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre on 25 February. Employees had the chance to experience first-hand the skill, determination, and resilience required in the sport. The day also featured a special talk by Australian Paralympian Leanne Del Toso, who shared her inspiring journey in wheelchair basketball, followed by the official cheque handover to the Victorian Wheelchair Basketball Team.
“The experience was incredibly humbling,” said Hayden Flett, Salto’s Sales Enablement Manager. “Playing wheelchair basketball gave us a whole new appreciation for the level of athleticism and dedication these players bring to the game.”
Salto’s participation in the corporate triathlon and wheelchair basketball event underscores the company’s core values of teamwork, accessibility, and social impact. By supporting adaptive sports, THE SALTO FOUNDATION makes a tangible difference in the lives of young athletes, ensuring they have the opportunity to compete, grow, and inspire future generations.
