The majority of our smart lock models are designed for straightforward DIY installation. You can replace standard residential mechanical cylinders or deadbolts using only a screwdriver and a few minutes of your time. Always follow the specific instructions for your model. Your security is our priority. The lock will still work even if your Wi-Fi is down, as authentication is processed at the door. The app provides a series of low-battery warnings prior to batteries running out. However, in the event of a full power outage, all Salto smart locks include a physical key override feature to ensure you are never locked out.
Our smart locks use standard AA or lithium batteries, depending on the model. The system sends multiple low-battery warnings via the app and sometimes on the lock itself, giving you plenty of time to replace them before the lock runs out of power completely.
However, the typical battery life for our smart locks is 12 months under normal usage conditions, which is around 10 cycles per day.
